Atari Centipede

Atari’s Centipede is an iconic fixed shooter arcade game where players are tasked with defending against an onslaught of bugs like centipedes, spiders, scorpions, and fleas using the bugblaster. Your survival skills are put to the test in this thrilling game where you aim to outlast the insect invaders. Equipped with the bugblaster, players shoot small darts at the segmented centipede, which consists of 10 to 12 body parts including its head. Each segment that is hit transforms into a mushroom, but the pieces continue to independently descend towards the player. To defeat the centipede, you must focus on shooting its head, as this is the only way to destroy the entire creature. Players can control the bugblaster’s movement and shooting actions using either the keyboard or mouse, giving them the flexibility to adapt their gameplay strategy as they combat the advancing bugs.
